| Database Entry Field Assignment |
|
Due to the wide range of skills involved, it may honestly take a great deal of time to become proficient at the body of work necessary to create entire flawless, accurate and cost effective book listings to our very high standards. There is a great deal to learn. (Even better, in this business, one never stops learning.) Therefore, rather than ask our staff to train indefinitely, and to allow each of our staff to become productive quickly, The Book Shop divides the work of creating a listing between our Initiators and our Listers, both of whom contribute to every listing, or database record. Briefly, the Initiator has several endlessly interesting duties, including the job of research into each volume to be listed. Assessing each book's resale potential, the Initiator determines its selling price, then creates, or initiates, a database record, and in addition to entering book-specific data into assigned database entry fields, notes any interesting tidbits he or she may have learned. The Lister is our customer advocate. Asking how each examined book differs in condition from a brand new book, the Lister's goal is to bring to completion each listing, or database record, per our guidelines and style sheet and to honestly, accurately and thoroughly describe the condition of each book in keeping with our commitment and guarantees to our online customers. The database entry fields for which each staff position is responsible are as follows. Initiator Fields
